I find Darcy's humor added to the film, and Selvig too. Portman was fine. And I thought the villain was exactly what he needed to be. He feels the universe as it stands has destroyed his rightful universe. It's almost like a native American story in space. I don't know why he would need any more depth for it not to be something that it worth bringing up. I felt Darcys goofiness, especially in the end fight took away the seriousness of the battle between Thor and Maleketh. Speaking of Maleketh, he was not bad, just not fleshed out enough. I don't know anything about him in the comics so wanted to learn more why he wants to cover the universe in darkness again. Still he was better than most other MCU villains given that theh didnt camp him up as a joke.
