Salomy Jane (1914) Interesting to note that this exciting, albeit primitive melodrama, was lost from 1931 to 1996 when a single copy surfaced in Australia. It is the last surviving film made by the California Motion Picture Corporation and also the only surviving film featuring Latino star Beatriz Michelena who plays Salomy.
The film opens with a magnificent shot of Salomy emerging from inside a giant Redwood tree. The camera pans up this massive tree, highlighting the glorious setting among North Californian forests, stunning landscapes feature throughout. An amazing stunt was performed from uncredited Jack Holt in his screen debut, it cost him some broken ribs and the poor horse. With lots of strands to the story and of course standing out, rugged dashing hero House Peters , great entertainment!...
