Well according to a article online from the Jan 6th 2011 it basically said that Gattaca (1997) is the most plausible Sci-Fi movie according to NASA.

1.Gattaca (1997)
2.Contact (1997)
3.Metropolis (1927)

7.Jurassic Park (1993)
it even mentioned Blade Runner (1982) but did not make the Top 7.
