NJtoTX Sure they can. In the last couple weeks I made a whole chicken and a beef roast in it. The roast went in crock-pot looking like top picture and came out looking like bottom picture. Got both pics off the web but that's what mine looked like before and after.
Only difference mine had three slices of cabbage on top of the roast. And the chicken came out fall off the bone tender.
