I have a question for you. Are you counting loose remakes or just direct remakes? The reason I ask is because some people have mentioned Barb Wire as a remake of Casablanca, but I don't see it that way. It is more parodying the plot than anything. That occurred to me as well, because The Social Network is basically a remake of Citizen Kane. Since he said only direct remakes, then yeah, it'd take some balls to put out a new "Citizen Kane" when Citizen Kane is used as a metric of being GOAT (ie "Watchmen is the Citizen Kane of comic books"). A sequel would be even whackier. Some fourth generation Kane family member trying to take the New York Daily Inquirer to the internet and compete with vloggers? Ugh. There is a scale that has to be taken into account imo. On one end would be Barb Wire and on the other end would be Psycho (1998). I think Barb Wire is just having fun using the Casablanca story in a cartoon-ish context. That is not a remake by my definition.
