Both Liverpool and Man U and even Arsenal have had teams/squads that were at least as "good" but you can't really compare different times as there are so many variables involved. Football has changed so much at the top level and so much of the physical aspect has been removed from that level that you could almost call it a non tackling version of the game played at lower levels. Apart from 2 years ago when City and Liverpool went head to head all through the season other clubs have lacked the consistency required to challenge, as indeed did City last year when Liverpool were far superior. For most football fans though, buying success leaves a bit of a hollow feeling which is why the Man United "kids" side were better imho.
