I don't think the comparison is fair.
Topher Grace isn't given much to do in Spider-Man 3 and is playing a much different version of Eddie Brock.
Obviously Tom Hardy, but isn't it just all cgi when he is Venom? He is like 7 feet tall.
The worst aspect of the Venom in Spider-Man 3 is that he is skinny. The one thing Venom gets right is the look of the character.
I don't think Tom Hardy or Topher Grace are particularly good in the role, though Tom Hardy is technically well cast.
