The best part of Padres-Dodgers 2021 is one of those 2 teams will have to play a wild card winner take all play-in game. That's how important 1st place is & when MLB gets it right.
They will be two of the best teams in NL. Unfortunately, whoever will be the wild card and win the wild card game, they will face each other in Division series even if they are the two best team.
In the old system when the teams from the same division don't play each other in the Division series, the two best teams don't face each other til the LCS. That was how we get the classic Yanks-Sox series in 2003 and 2004.
