Midnight in Paris is a bore, The Help is generic, Extremely Loud should have come nowhere near the Oscars, War Horse is Spielberg at his worst. 2019 is my favorite for the Best Picture line-up. A Joker movie, a Martin Scorsese gangster epic, a satire about Nazi Germany, a disturbing social class commentary, a famous literary work, a real-time WWI movie, a movie about the end of old Hollywood, the best racing movie ever made and one of the best relationship dramas of the decade.
2019 was really good. I’ll be honest. Maybe the best.
