Fun OTT action movie. The snowy mountain setting does a lot of heavy lifting. I think the characters are fun too and have good chemistry and that can take a not very smart movie a long way. Good action scenes and John Lithgow hams it up in the best way possible. One of Stallone's better action movies.
It also has one of my favorite one-liners - "Season's over asshole." - Michael Rooker in one of his best roles as a good guy. Michael Rooker gets the Arnold Schwarzenegger-style bad-ass one-liner. Watching his terrifying performance in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer and then as a cool heroic character in Cliffhanger will give you whiplash.

The villains are all real pieces of shit too. It really helps move the story along when you can’t wait to see them get cut down.
