German dramatic mezzo-soprano Christa Ludwig has left us at the age of 93, on April 24th.
Her performing career spanned almost half a century, from the late 1940's until the early 1990's. She appeared at the Vienna State Opera from 1955 to 1994, and at the Metropolitan Opera in many roles, among international opera houses and festivals.
Many of her performances has also been televised.
