I actually think it is decent, in large part because of the excellent performances from Amy Adams and Glenn Close.
The script is the main problem with the movie, but I think Ron Howard does his best to make it work.
Hans Zimmer's score is also good.

It is nothing like What's Eating Gilbert Grape though.
Exactly, it’s one of those films where the acting is phenomenal and the story is weak.
I actually thought Glenn Close would win.
