Why do people like to vacation to the beach so often?

We have a place in the country on a river. We swim, boat and water ski. Trees give us shade. The water is usually glassy smoth. And we have no fear of sharks of jellyfish.

Beaches might be good for surfing. But the swimming is tough with the waves. Jellyfish sting. And some people are afraid of sharks.
