I don't get why Bruce says that he cannot control the Hulk when in the movies it shows that he clearly can. In the 70s "The Incredible Hulk" TV show, David had no memory or control over what the Hulk did. So him fearing "the monster" is logical. But we see that at the end of "The Incredible Hulk", Bruce smiles when his eyes turn green, hinting that he has found a way to control it. In the final fight in "The Avengers", we see the Hulk knowing what he was doing, killing only the bad guys and even saving Tony. In "Age of Ultron", he is even more in control. He doesn't kill Black Widow when she pushes him off the cliff. Even though he changes to his Hulk form, he understands what she tells him, does what is required of him and even has the understanding to switch off the communication in the Quinjet and fly away because the Hulk (not Bruce) feels that he is endangering his friends.
Clearly Banner is in control even when he is the Hulk. Sure he did wreak havoc when he was under the mind control of Loki and Wanda, but that is not a good enough reason to say that he "can't control it". Even Hawkeye did bad things when under Loki's influence. He actually killed people. That kind of mind control can make anyone form the Avengers go berserk and not just the Hulk.
Any thoughts? You agree or disagree with me?
Also the Hulk himself is not tottaly irrational and has a basic understanding of how stuff works, he feels things, he has the power to sense frendship and sometimes he, himself is frendly towards others. And also he would never kill someone intentionally.
I think the way the MCU portray this higly complex mind is appropriate for the larger masses, they don't have the advantage of thaught bubbles to explain what's going on, so when people see what you are describing they go, oh ok, he can control him. but is far more complex than that, as is everything that comes from comics to movies. Remember he shifts intelligence in the comics a lot, bruce gains and loses control, sometimes he has full control and the hulk is the "passenger". usually it looses it becaus he can't never achieve the levels of raw power an angry out of control hulk can achieve.
I'm really looking forward to Thor:Ragnarok to see how they are going to portray him. In the comics, planet hulk, Hulk was intelligent and it was the hulk persona that got inteligent, not banner taking control.
There always were degrees of the Hulk: Full enraged hulk, hulk nudged by banner, full inteligent hulk, vicious hulk (las vegas), fully contolled by banner hulk, etc
