I learn a lot from Russian profs! it really is not true though, whoever was teaching you that was either joking or didnt really know russia too well or was talking about brief moment about a 30 years ago in a select locations. It's outdated I suppose. That prof also mentioned her kids don't want to learn Russian so she left Russia a while ago.
