What a box-office magnet title that is. They will be packing them in for sure.
A privileged son of multicultural monopoly Hollywood. They made a huge deal about him--he's from a wealthy family--an immigrant success story --which is fine--but why so much focus on him--what about some working class success story from Idaho or something?
They aren't interested in promoting the development of that segment of the US society in cultural production.
This is what Soviet-style cinema was like-they only hired people who satisfied the bureaucratic credentials of the ones who had the money. The audience didn't matter at all.
The public isn't demanding more M Night Shyamalan films.
Why do movies suck? Because there is a deliberate suppression of voices in the culture.
50 years ago this week you could see a sci-fi movie directed by a white guy born in Pennsylvania or a comedy western by another white guy born in Michigan.
I am happy someone born in India can be making films that dominate US cinemas but that's not native culture.
I imagine Indian filmgoers in Bombay are not interested in having Hollywood replace Bollywood. Think about that. India's film industry is more healthy than the one in the US.
