When I first watched Captain Marvel I ranked it near the middle of the MCU. Not great but not bad either. The more I rewatch the different movies, the more it goes down on my list. Right now I think I actually prefer Thor TDW than Captain Marvel. Ragnarok and Endgame have a lot to do with the rehabilitation of TDW, I think. Rewatched it recently and it's still not great, but it isn't as actively bad as I remember it being. Captain Marvel would've been great as a phase one movie; cramming a solo movie that doesn't lean on the rest of the MCU the way every film does now between IW and Endgame was never going to end well. Oh, and giving your main character amnesia so she has no personality for 80% of the movie (making her unknowable to the audience, let alone herself) was also a terrible choice. I liked it better than most people, but honestly the Skrulls are the best part about it and that's a problem. I never saw the issue with Thor: The Dark World. Maybe when compared with other MCU movies it ranks somewhere middle to low but it was always fine as a movie. I'd rather watch The Dark World than The Danish Girl.
