Didn't have a problem with the flashbacks. This variant had to see how the original Loki ended up. We all knew that scene was coming, I thought they'd save it for much later in the series. He can't get there without recapping where he'd been up to that point. It's a deconstruction of the character, how are they not going to dredge up the past? It's the whole point. One thing worth noting, Umbrella Academy also had a time keeping organization with a 50s/60s motif. Interesting how that is a recurring theme in these shows. An organization controlling time must be retro and futuristic at the same time; it's like pop culture can only go back as far as the 1950s before it seems of another era entirely. I don't feel they had to show us so much. Sure, show all that stuff to Loki, but we've seen it all. Can't they just allude to some of the stuff Loki's watching instead of making us watch him watch all of it? To each their own I guess, I thought it was good television. Though it does seem ridiculous that they'd show him scenes from Avengers considering it literally just happened from his perspective, they felt they needed to remind the audience where he's been so they get more invested on where he's going. I'm sure the entire audience hasn't seen the Avengers or the various other films as many times as I have. I see your point, it just didn't bother me as much.
