Marvel was actually my gateway to comics in the early 70's, I started reading them because of the Spider-Man cartoon. Then later, the Superman movie led me to read DC.
Actually know very little about the Marvel Captain Marvel, I know she's been reinvented for the 21st century readers. When I knew her, she was in The Avengers in the 80's and she was a black woman. There was also a Ms. Marvel, who Brie Larson does resemble, not sure if that's the same character with a name change either. I haven't been reading Marvel or DC much lately, but I keep an ear to the ground. Just learned there was a cheesy 70's TV series of Shazam as well, never saw it myself.
