It's better that way, exponentially so if it was unrequited.
If it's unrequited, there's this air of mystery and positivity that doesn't exist with an ex that one has already dated and was exposed to their dark side. AMENDED: Unless it was a brief crush with whom I retained a non-awkward friendship otherwise, it's better that way; exponentially so if it was wholly unrequited and causing agony, infinitely so if it was a crush that developed into a relationship with a psycho.
