I haven't seen either of these, but everyone I know who has seen "Pirates" has loved it. My friends that just go to movies for fun and my die-hard movie pals liked it equally.
Critics are snobs. That makes some movies impossible for them to like. Not to mention that modern-day critics almost never even mention the ACTUAL filmmaking behind the movie. All they talk about is face-level, trivial aspects that any fifth grader can see.
