1. The Sixth Sense - 9/10 - Very creative, very well-made and very emotional movie with one of the greatest twist endings of all time, led by strong performances throughout, especially by Haley Joel Osment. Perfect creepy and mysterious tone throughout.
2. Split - 8.5/10 - A very unique and fantastical take on DID, with a very clever and unusual twist. Again, very well made and fantastic atmosphere and James McAvoy gives one of my favorite lead performances of the 2010s.
3. Unbreakable - 7.5/10 - Quality film and yes, another very creative take on a popular subject - the superhero genre.
4. Signs - 7/10 - This one is much more flawed than the above mentioned, but still very well-made, creepy, emotional and creative. Maybe his most fun movie though.
5. The Village - 7/10 - This is for the most part a clever movie about fear, love and lies that can be seen as an allegory for religion. The movie's biggest problem is the final 3rd of the movie, which is poorly written imo. The movie as a whole also leaves a lot to be desired in the character, dialogue and acting department. Thematically the movie is quite powerful though.
6. Glass - 7/10 - I should be harder on this movie, because it is a mess, but I enjoy it for what it is. It's a disappointing follow-up to Split, but still unique enough to recommend. The acting and atmosphere make it work as well as it does, besides Bruce Willis, who is phoning it in. The stuff with Samuel L. Jackson and James McAvoy is great though. I also really like some of the reveals about the some of the characters in the last act.
7. Lady in the Water - 6.5/10 - This gets a lot of hate and I understand why, but it still has enough interesting qualities to be mostly amusing and I don't think it is meant to be taken seriously. It is a dark comedy imo.
8. The Visit - 6/10 - This is a very mixed bag for me and I honestly don't remember enough about it to comment much. I thought the twist was interesting, but totally unbelievable.
9. The Happening - 4.5/10 - This has a good idea at it''s core with the man vs. nature stuff, but it is very poorly done. Mark Wahlberg is just terrible and miscast in the lead role. The humor throughout the movie is intentional I think, but it doesn't land at all. The tone of the movie is pulling in too many directions and the story leads to a very boring conclusion.
10. Wide Awake - 4.5/10 - Not much to say. A corny, badly written and badly directed first effort. The movie is more annoying than anything.
11. After Earth - 4.5/10 - On paper this sounds like an interesting idea, but it is very poorly put to screen and is badly acted by every cast member, especially the completely unlikable, bland and self-aware performance from Jaden Smith. A movie that focuses on one character for long periods of time, you need a very talented actor to make it work. It is at least a somewhat visually interesting movie, so I do give it some credit there.
12. The Last Airbender - 3/10 - I am at a loss for words with this movie. The best I can say is that it is almost amusingly incompetent to the point where I can sort of laugh at it. I wasn't bored while watching it, but I was thinking the whole time, "WTF is happening in this movie and how did it go so wrong?" I have never watched the anime show, so I have nothing to compare it against in that regard. I assume fans of the show hate every minute of the movie.
