American television executive and producer Norman S. Powell has left us at the age of 86, on June 16th.  He was the son of actress Joan Blondell and cinematographer George Barnes, he was adopted by his mother's second husband, Dick Powell in 1938 under the name Norman Scott Powell. He earned two Emmy nominations for producing the 1977 ABC miniseries Washington Behind Closed Doors and for guiding the second season 2002-03 of the Fox drama 24, starring Kiefer Sutherland. He worked as a production manager starting in the late 1950's on such TV Westerns as Wanted: Dead or Alive, Gunsmoke and The Rifleman. He produced the award-winning documentary Brothers at War 2009 with director/producer Jake Rademacher and executive producers Gary Sinise and David Scantling. He is remembered by Hollywood Reporter R.I.P. Norman S. Porter
