Sherlock Holmes has appeared in the most movies, but I am only talking about specific novels. It would go by how many times "Hound of the Baskervilles" has been adapted, for example.

Yes. I was trying to explain that in my second sentence. Maybe The Adventures of Pinocchio would be more in tune with the topic, though done in children's versions thanks to the influence of the Disney film.
