I guess they had a Scorsese/De Niro thing going. How true!!! Ken and Maury also collaborated on POLICE NURSE in 1963 , one of my favourite "hush hush"/society doctor racket movies. Criterion should offer all 3 in a special ed Box Set ... Ken had done OK for a few years until THE NAKED BRIGADE, featured roles in a couple of big movies and some lesser known ones: FIVE GATES TO HELL 1959 is fun- Ken and a bunch of nuns and nurses captured by Neville Brand as a Chinese warlord!!! - DESIRE IN THE DUST 1960 is poor man's tennessee williams - he's the excon back in town, Raymond Burr is Big Daddy and Martha Hyer the society girl with the hots for him But THE NAKED BRIGADE proved to be a curse for him.... next year he only had a bit in FANTASTIC VOYAGE and the next year was unbilled in ST VALENTINE'S DAY MASSACRE. He worked steadily on TV (everything from LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAERIE to DALLAS), and the odd film (as a rabbi in 1975s FABULOUS FANNY) . Shirley gave it a few more years but called it quits in 1968 after being violated contractually by Jess Franco - Crafty Jess inserted out takes from his SUMURU movie with Shirley into a FU MANCHU and had her billed as a special guest star!
