For me, it's the opposite as it is for you with the Kongs...while I love Bogie, I've always found that version to be somewhat flat whereas Harrison's take I've always found the much more romantic. That is part of the reason I don't like the remake as much. It also isn't as focused or as interesting as the original imo. Billy Wilder is just a much better filmmaker than Pollack. The remake feels like 50 other 1990s romantic comedies, whereas the original stands out as unique.
