I actually find that scene somewhat intense, not funny the way many people do. This was back when random stuff was cgi just for the sake of it in movies that it doesn't belong in. Remember Fight Club? It is brilliant cgi in the case of Fight Club and it was experimental, but a lot of it is so unnecessary regardless.
