American television and film director John Erman has left us at the age of 85, on June 25th.  He directed several episodes of Roots 1977 (Emmy nominated), its sequel, Roots: The Next Generations 1979, and Alex Haley's Queen 1993, and has helmed numerous television films, including Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn 1977, Green Eyes 1977, Child of Glass 1978, The Scarlett O'Hara War 1980 (Emmy nominated), Who Will Love My Children? 1983 (Emmy winner), A Streetcar Named Desire 1984 (Emmy nominated), The Two Mrs. Grenvilles 1987 (Emmy nominated), Right to Kill? 1985, An Early Frost 1985 (Emmy nominated), The Atlanta Child Murders 1985, The Attic: The Hiding of Anne Frank 1988 (Emmy nominated), David 1988 (Emmy nominated), Breathing Lessons 1994 (Emmy nominated), Scarlett 1994, The Sunshine Boys 1996, Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke 1999, The Boys Next Door 1996, and Candles on Bay Street 2006 (his last as director), many of which he also produced. His feature film directing credits include Ace Eli and Rodger of the Skies 1973 and Stella 1990. He is remembered by Broadway WorldR.I.P. John Erman
