Because the thing is, the lead actor in it. Probably not the right size to be a boxer. Actually, I think we're under the impression that boxers are really big guys, when in truth they come in all shapes. That's why they have many different weight classes, and most of them fit into the middle ranges. DeNiro as LaMotta would have been just right for the role he played. Stallone as Rocky actually kinda misleads us.
