The only way I've been able to make sense of this show's fight scenes are that they've dialed Loki's physical fighting skills to a 1 then dialed up his magic skills to an 8... though his magic is limited to only using it in random occurences outside of combat.
Everytime he's in combat he'll resort to h2h fighting which he'll normally lose or struggle with. It's hard to imagine that this used to be the guy who could go toe to toe with Thor.
