I think this is to show that without his magic and guile, Loki is not as strong as the average Asgardian, but then he isn’t an Asgardian. What’s only been touched upon in the narrative is how Lokis are agents of chaos that prevent the universes from smoothing out into totally predictable, unchanging order. Out of chaos comes new creation. Loki is a destroyer and a creator. Loki was strong enough to manhandle Thor to a degree. Was easily overpowering Captain America in a purely physical fight. Had reflexes fast enough to catch an arrow without looking. Is outright bullet proof. Even without his magic and guile, Loki is an absolute beast of a fighter. Or at least he was. This series has completely removed that aspect of his movie version. He is a great fighter in his future self. How good is in Thor or the Avengers? Prior, he depends upon Gungnir or his spectre loaded up with an Infinity Stone for the big magic. I daresay his horned tiara gives him some power as well. Loki does admit to Möbius he is mostly magic bravado to hide his weaknesses.
