The CGI zombies looked awful and were about as threatening as a feral cat. It was a movie that made use of a standard horror movie premise but with the feel and direction of a mainstream action flick, something that rarely appeals to me.
28 Days Later is a much better example of a movie that uses this kind of premise and does so extremely well. And that one didn't try to skirt away from the horror elements.
