I really disliked it when I first saw it '78 (I was in high school), and my opinion hasn't changed much. Reeve is great, the score is great, but everything else is campy Batman '66 garbage. Yeah, Lex Luthor is a criminal genius... who hires OTIS as his top henchman. Uh huh, sure. You might find it campy and what not, but where has there been a better big screen representation of the iconic Superman most people recognize as in all the time since 1978? Reeve's version of the character is totally aspirational and brings hope and optimism, more recent big screen iterations are not aspirational, rather they are cathartic motivational and seem too easy to manipulate emotionally. Regarding the film's Lex Luthor, c'mon it's Gene Hackman and Lex Luthor hadn't been retooled quite yet into what we're familiar with these days, and a bit of camp isn't bad at all if it's handled fine. And Batman '66 garbage? It saved Batman from being cancelled in the comic books and Adam West's performance has influenced pretty much every rendition since - Kevin Conroy's voice for the character is a more somber version of West's voice.
