I've often wondered why they haven't done a straight horror movie considering how well they handled suspense with Blood Simple and No Country For Old Men, and also look at movies like Barton Fink or Inside Llewyn Davis. When I sat in the theater watching ILD I felt such unease not knowing which direction this movie was going to go, especially with the introduction of the John Goodman character and the general feeling that Llewyn Davis was trapped in some type of purgatory where nothing could ever go right for him, I felt the movie could've taken a horror turn at any point. It just seems they either have no interest at all in the genre, or maybe with their connection to the Raimi brothers that they sort of siphoned their horror ideas through them and their Ghosthouse horror film label.
