I wouldn't say it is a remake in name only. It just changes it from Price wearing a fake face to the character having a brother who is disfigured (and named Vincent). It also still involves a wax museum obviously and making people into wax. I'd say it is a combination remake of Tourist Trap and House of Wax.

I didn't like it, because I felt nothing for any of the characters and I am not much of a fan of modern slasher movies. I do like Tourist Trap to a certain extent, back when slasher movies were more fun and more creepy. I am also not a fan of Brian Van Holt as the villain in the 2005 version and I can't stand the fact that Paris Hilton is even in it, regardless that she gets killed in it.
