It's funny - NBA Central posted an article quoting an NBA Scout who stated pretty much the same thing I stated above and in other posts
Stick him at the '4' as a Point Forward and go out and sign Lowry to run the '1'. Don't want to keep using #s as we've moved into positionless ball but you need two ballhandlers and the 2nd ballhandler - Combo Guard - needs to be able to shoot too.
It's been the plan all along since they drafted Markelle and was the correct plan - the problem was Markelle was a headcase and came nothing as advertised
They've failed to put an above average Combo Guard next to him since the disaster
Here's Summer League when they drafted 'Kelle - who was a PG in college and everybody was wondering -
'Who's going to play the point if you have both Ben and 'Kelle'?
Ben states he's running the point but 'Kelle would be more of a Combo Guard - even the interviewers alludes to it - that 'Kelle would be a Combo Guard running with Ben
Kid was a disaster - it's the one situation in sports where I put it on the player. Wasn't the teams plan that failed. He was the consensus #1 by the masses. He was a coward afraid of the show - like a deer in the headlights - and hid like a scared child.
I want a legit Combo Guard to run with Ben - it's been the missing piece for years
....or I'll begrudgingly take Dame, Luka or Beal in a deal....
