The George Pal Classic.
There were too many missteps in the remake.
Rod Taylor's scientist seeking a better world is certainly more compelling than Guy Pearce trying to keep his girlfriend from getting killed. Now we know what crossing H.G. Wells with a Harlequin Romance looks like.
Worst of all were the leaping cgi Morlocks.
There were some great visuals and the hologram in place of the talking rings in the first picture worked very well, but the movie simply does not have the emotional impact of the 1960 version.
