1960. I found the whole storyline in the 2002 version with him trying to save his dying girlfriend unnecessary. There's no reason they couldn't have just left the plot of the original intact. Actually I found that part to be what I liked most about the remake... I hated the story line in the original... " I'm not happy with the time I was born into..." Oh please, we all hate when we were born and wish we could live in different times... but you don't see everyone giving up on our lives because of it. However, We all can relate to wanting to save someone we've lost... In the remake I also liked... The time machine better, with the time field surrounding it, it actually looked like it could travel through time... The original looked like a spinning snow sled attached to a platform. Being able to see the huge jump through time into the future was great too... And the musical score was fantastic, especially, during the time travel sequence when he decides to travel into the near future to find out why he couldn't save her. With that said... I prefer the original when it comes to... Seeing George having fun, while exploring the phenomenon of Time Travel by watching the dresses get shorter and other similar event... And the future storyline was better as well... The ending was better too, where George comes back to dinner with his friends and then returns to the future. I can't decide which one I like better... Both had their good points and bad ones too.
