I went with the remake. Both were very good.
1960 had a more watchable and thus better cinematography, and it was a good story with good characters.
2002 suffered from worse cinematography, going too modern in its "Vegas arcade" special effects stupidity that so many new movies make the mistake of doing, but other than that, it was better in every way to the original. The librarian character was a very good touch and made the final difference. That's how close it was to rate them.
