On first look, the only film I recognized and have seen was Drugstore Cowboy. After reviewing the titles though, I remembered reading about Pather Pachali and the Bad Seed. I'm drawn to films from the midcentury, so I'd probably go for a double feature showing both of those films. If I had to choose one, I probably pick Pather Pachali, it seems a bit more influential and interesting to me. I love films from that era too. They're so interesting.
I've seen one film by the director of Pather Pachali, Satyajit Ray. My impression is that he's amazing. The Big City (1963) is his other film I saw and it was just incredible, in my opinion.
I really like old Japanese movies. The Big City was like watching some of the very best black and white Kenji Mizoguchi, except Indian. I've been circling around Pather Pachali for a month, waiting to be in the right mood to take it in because it looks like serious business.
Tonight's the night then. Cheers!
