I believe the Chorus Girls strike occurred in 1917 and was just one of the protests that led to the formation of Actors Equity in 1919, at which time the photo of Dressler and Barrymore was taken. Whether Dressler was blacklisted for her participation in the strike or later for her establishing the union is not clear. Theatrical producers did not need Dressler. She could be eliminated. The did need the chorus girls, otherwise no shows, and probably came to some kind of agreement, hoping it would settle the issue.
