Unusually, I actually preferred the 2005 version. The 1979 felt very much like a movie where nothing much happened. Amityville II: The Possession trumps both. Just watched. It is more entertaining than the original and the remake, but much dumber. It is entertainingly bad imo. It helps if you enjoy cheesy 80s horror. Amityville II is delightfully OTT. And the family leaves more of an impression than their counterparts in the other films. Not a likeable bunch to be sure, but memorable all the same.
