I enjoy the cheesy 80s material myself, so this movie was right up my alley. I certainly agree that the Evil Dead movies accomplish this with far greater skill, but that franchise is in a different league to the Amityville one, the most memorable aspect of which it the exterior look of the house itself. So you just like all cheesy '80s horror movies? I ask because this would be an example of a bad cheesy horror movie (imo), whereas Basket Case would be an example of good cheesy '80s horror movie. I would say I dislike the original Amityville Horror, the remake and the first sequel all equally. That is a first btw. That is to say they are all equally mediocre imo. I agree that the exterior of the house is easily the most memorable aspect of this franchise. Yeah. I have a great fondness for cheesy 80s horror in general - Night of the Creeps, TerrorVision, Troll, Night of the Comet, etc. Some more than others, of course, but it's a style I derive great satisfaction from. The original Amityville Horror doesn't do a lot for me either. Found it rather dull actually. Definitely wouldn't fall into the category of cheesy horror though, given how seriously it takes itself.
