Yankees pen has been their Achilles Heel. Another Kingman-esque bat isn’t going to help them a lot.

I was surprised to see that they are only 2.5 games out of the second wildcard slot - - it seems like they are worse than that.

Gallo walks a ton and plays good defense, so in that way he's an improvement on Kingman. Right now the only position players who have better WARs than him for the season are Tatis Jr, Semien, Guerrero Jr, and Muncy (not counting the pitching part of Ohtani).
