Yankees pen has been their Achilles Heel. Another Kingman-esque bat isn’t going to help them a lot.
Gallo walks a ton and plays good defense, so in that way he's an improvement on Kingman. Right now the only position players who have better WARs than him for the season are Tatis Jr, Semien, Guerrero Jr, and Muncy (not counting the pitching part of Ohtani).
He is having a better year that I thought. I'm wondering if he will walk as much in the Yanks lineup.
To my thinking, if I ran the Yanks, I would have rather got Kendall Graveman than Joey Gallo. Maybe he best reliever on the market, including Kimbrel, Graveman would have solidified a glaring weakness. Gallo fill another need, a lefty bat but the bullpen is bringing the team down. But Gallo is a bigger headline
