On this point, she was apparently legitimately has ADD and has been taking Ritalin for years, and was able to do so in Rio, but in Japan it's illegal with no exceptions.
Hard to diagnose someone from a distance, without an expertise, and with such little information, but that's what we're here for, right?
Anyway, it's possible that coming off of meds and either the effects of her ADD coming back and/or the withdrawals from cycling off of Ritalin could have had a real effect on her ability to perform properly.
