17 goals in the opening six SPL games over the weekend with only Ross County and St Johnstone firing blanks in their 0-0. Of the other five games there were two win-to-nils, two BTTS and a score draw. It may be worth keeping an eye on the Both Teams To Score YES market in this most unlikely of locations. 4 of the games finished with over 2 match goals.
But this is small fry compared to the Scottish Championship where just four games produced 18 goals, three with both teams potting and those three all with over 3 match goals, a bet which is odds against in most circumstances. And there is still one game to be played on Monday.
Of the ten games in League 1 and 2, seven were win-to-nils, so the 'Both Teams To Score NO' market could be worth bearing in mind for these two leagues.
As if all that wasn't enough, the referee at Albion Rovers had to pull up at half time which meant one of the linesman replacing him and Albion striker Max Wright bizarrely set to become a substitute linesman for the second half, much to the anger of Edinburgh City. The debate continued, Wright still clutching his linesman's flag, and concluded with his services not being required, the second half played with just the one linesman.
Not surprisingly the goldmine for goals came in the weekend's Highland and Lowland divisions, with the former producing 40 goals from 8 games, the latter, 29 from 8. Forget about about profiting from goals and coining it in from these leagues as no bookie that I know of will touch the market.
Let's enjoy Sunday's encounter in the SPL between Motherwell and Hibernian.
