An entertaining biographical musical film in which. Esther Williams plays Annette Kellerman the pioneering Australian swim star, and actress. Kellerman appeared in several movies, usually with aquatic themes, and as the star of A Daughter of the Gods (1916) she was the first major actress to appear nude in a Hollywood production.
During production Esther Williams met with Annette Kellerman (pic) who was an advocate of health, fitness, and natural beauty throughout her life. Williams is quoted, "Miss Kellerman is a charming woman", and still has very good health and figure. She was a famous stage personality and made several sensational movies for her time. I believe her life will provide a fine subject for me..."
Kellerman said... "I can still hold my own with Esther from the neck down, from the neck up, I think she is much too glamorous for the role. I think, really, she's too beautiful..."
