The Last Jedi is easily the worst of the two because of the very reasons given by janntosh , the only people I have seen that actually like it are the ones who generally think little of Star Wars or are casual fans who could give or take staying true to the mythology and its characters, or are just Rian Johnson fans. I'm none of the things you describe but still consider The Last Jedi as the best of a bad bunch (Star Wars sequels that is, I haven't seen Fallen Kingdom). That's fine, I could see why as the trilogy as a whole is a mess.
