I don't have AC at home. Most homes here don't. Mother Nature takes care of those who live close to the ocean, on the west coast.
--Inland areas heat up, in the summer.
--Hot air rises.
--Mother Nature abhors a vacuum, so she looks for cooler air to fill the void. Lo, and behold! There's a whole ocean at her disposal. The cool air rushes toward the hot areas, and condenses over the relatively warm land. FOG! Jackets and sweaters are common items for our summer wardrobes.
This close to the ocean, it's a very rare day with no breeze. On days that are just "warmish," we just open windows for a cross-ventilation.
I sometimes use it in the car, if I'm far enough inland for it to be warmer than I'm used to ... maybe 3-5 miles. But, the windows often do the trick, there, too.
